The Deck Engineer

For fun I play Magic the gathering and I take deck building to a whole new level. It is basically deck engineering. I’ve spent decades carefully planning and engineering some decks in various formats. Here are some of my most carefully thought out decks from Modern. However, I have found a home in Commander and you’ll have to play me to see what the deck lists are other than the one below. Also check out my collection and see if you want to pick up a card and help support my engineering by going to my store Barbeefett Games.

Commander:

High Roller Ninja:

A dream as a young player was for me to cast really big splashy spells while not always losing. Selecting high mana value spells with a secondary small cost was no easy task! Play the channel or delve cost, or take advantage of the phyrexian mana to disrupt the table enough for some ninjas to get through. I threw in a couple extra high Mana Value mana rocks since most of the creatures are cheap. It can help you cast the big splashy spells too. Have fun, I know my opponents do. Lol.

Dead Drop is a powerful black sorcery spell that can be a valuable addition to a Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow commander deck. The card’s Delve mechanic allows players to exile cards from their graveyard to reduce its mana cost, making it a flexible and versatile tool for controlling the battlefield. Despite its high mana cost of 10, Dead Drop can still be revealed by Yuriko’s ability, providing players with a valuable offensive option. Overall, Dead Drop’s ability to reduce its mana cost through Delve makes it a valuable tool in any Yuriko deck, especially when paired with other cards that allow players to manipulate their library and graveyard.

Hagra Mauling is a black instant spell that can be played as a land in a Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow commander deck. Despite this, it can still be revealed by Yuriko’s ability, making it a valuable card for controlling the battlefield and taking out high-cost creatures on the opponent’s board.

Rags // Riches is a powerful black and blue sorcery spell with a split card format. In a Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow commander deck, this card’s high mana value can deal 11 damage! Ouch! Players can choose to cast either Rags or Riches, depending on if you need to board wipe and eliminate all creatures, or just get a bunch of free things from your opponents giving you the advantage.

Sea Hag is a blue creature spell with an Adventure ability that can be played as a sorcery. In a Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow commander deck, the card’s Adventure ability allows players to play it early in the game and let ninjas attack unblocked. This can be a valuable tool for dealing damage to the opponent with Yuriko’s ability.
